Mask of Duplicity by Julia Brannan

Having read a lot of murder mysteries I decided to try a bit of historical fiction. The Mask of Duplicity was a free kindle book so I thought that I would give it a go. I was a bit concerned about the fact that it was set in the Jacobian period which I embarrassingly know nothing about. Luckily there was a little historical introduction at the beginning, however I just couldn’t retain the information and I struggled to remember who was who and which belief was acceptable and which was not. I also found some of the story a bit hard to read due to the fear and treatment that some of the characters went through. Once I got past all of that though I enjoyed the rest of the story and was disappointed that it ended as it did. It was the first book in a series and I think that with a little bit more research I will be ready to embark on the next book in the series.
