Cauliflowers Through The Catflap by Cassandra Campbell-Kemp – The Book Network Review

A short book giving an amusing glimpse into someone else’s lockdown experience. It is a lockdown story made up of little escapades that keep it light and amusing, yet with a serious undertone.

I have been thinking that I need to broaden my horizons and get more involved with new material coming out, and so when I received an email from The Book Network Team asking if I wanted a free eCopy of this book in exchange for a review, I accepted.

It was an enjoyable read and even though it’s not the sort of thing that I would usually go for (I did worry that it might hit a bit close to home). I’m glad that I branched out and read it.

It was an honest and entertaining read that you could really relate to. I loved the main character and reading about her personal lockdown journey. I also loved how the main character ‘discovered’ herself and was able to reflect on herself and her environment. It was also interesting to see how people acted around her too, how people who she thought were her friends actually turned out to be the opposite.

Whilst there were elements of anxiety and fear, it was well balanced with hope and how maybe we (as a species and the planet as a whole) will be better off for it in the longrun.

We are still living in these strange times and it’s interesting to read how other people are coping and what their experiences are and have been. I recommend giving it a read.
