Pandemic Reading List 2021 – Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

For my 30th birthday I wanted something special, a book that was as old as me. So after a bit of research I found that this book was published around my date of birth. I then had to do further research to find out where I could get such an item. It turns out ebay!

I was thrilled when I eventually got round to reading it. I had enjoyed the recent TV adaptation so was looking forward to reading it.

It was an interesting story about the end of days incorporating myth, legend and witchcraft. The TV adaptation was very faithful to the book, which helped as I struggled with the style of writing at times. I needed to remember what happened in the TV show in order to understand what was happening in the book.

I loved the ideas behind the story and all the characters were very interesting. There was also a humour to the book which I enjoyed. I could only rate it a 3 though as I did get confused and without the TV adaptation to refer back to I don’t think that I would have grasped the smaller details.

Rated 3/5
