Top Ten Tuesday!

It’s Top Ten Tuesday! Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, this weeks Top 10 is Favourite Book Places.

I quite enjoyed looking through my books and remembering where I had been transported to! I have even been lucky enough to have visited a couple of the places in real life!

So here are my Top 10 Favourite Book Places:

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – Velaris

As this was a library book here is a description of Velaris from the internet (https://acourtofthornsandroses.fandom.com/wiki/Velaris#Description):

“In Velaris many shops can be found with delicate tables and chairs scattered outside their cheery fronts…

Velaris has four main market squares called Palaces, two on the southern side of the Sidra River and two on the northern side…They are white-stoned squares flanked by Tehran pillars supporting the carved and painted buildings that watch over them and provide a covered walkway beneath the shops built into the street level.

What Velaris is mast known for is the artists’ quarter, called the Rainbow of Velaris, where dwell the performing artists, the musicians, the dancers, the actors. It is a brightly painted pocket of the city, built atop one of the hills that flowed right to the river’s edge. In the Rainbow of Velaris can be found a hundred galleries, supply stores, potters’ compounds, sculpture gardens, and anything in between. In this quarter is located a building with a golden top, the most famous of the five main theaters in the city. In Velaris there are also other smaller theaters and an amphitheater on the sea cliff.”

The Bookshop on the Corner by Rebecca Raisin – The Bookshop

This was a library book so I don’t have access to the description of the bookshop and the internet doesn’t seem to have one either, so all I can say is that it was a beautiful shop full of second hand books with a window looking out onto the street, plus there was a reading nook where people could just sit and read.

The Keys to my Diary – Fern – by Ann Omasta – Florida Keys

Taken from the book:

“I live in beautiful Key Largo in the Florida Keys. It is sunny and gorgeous here the vast majority of the time. Our little island is surrounded by some of the most crystal clear, turquoise blue water I’ve ever seen. Scuba divers come from all over the world to check out the coral reefs that are teeming with marine life just off the coast.”

Harry Potter by J K Rowling – Diagon Alley and Hogwarts

From the internet (https://owlcation.com/academia/Scenes-from-Harry-Potter-to-help-with-descriptive-work-in-your-class-Castle-descriptions):

“Harry wished he had about eight more eyes. He turned his head in every direction as they walked up the street, trying to look at everything at once: the shops, the things outside them, the people doing their shopping.”

Origin by Dan Brown – Barcelona, Guggenheim museum

Love your life by Sophie Kinsella – Writer’s retreat in Italy

The Witch of the North Pole by Snow Eden – The North Pole!!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas – The Spring Court

Taken from the internet (https://www.google.com/search?q=the+spring+court+in+a+court+of+thorns+and+roses+description&oq=the+spring+court+in+a+court+of+thorns+and+roses+description&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64l3.13279j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8)

“The Spring Court is a land of rolling green hills, lush forests, and clear, bottomless lakes. Magic didn’t just abound in the bumps and the hollows – it grew there.”

Inferno by Dan Brown – Florence

A Killer Cupcake by Fiona Grace – The boardwalk

“Whimsical was the first word that came to Ali’s mind as her car crested the hill and the small town of Willow Bay opened up before her…The tall rainbow houses went all the way from the hills to the seafront, like a staircase for a giant toddler. It was so quirky and unique, Ali thought that it would make a good location for a film.”

I hope you enjoyed my Top 10 Favourite Book Places. Would any of these be on your list?
