💭THOUGHTS💭 

I had seen a few of Julie Caplin’s books around the book blogging world a while back and decided that I needed to read one for myself. I had a lot of other books to get through first, but when I decided that I would read chick lit and romance for February, the first Julie Caplin book ticked both boxes. I am so glad that I finally got round to reading it. I absolutely loved it and am so pleased that it is part of a series. I am definitely a fan and will be reading the rest of the series! 

The writing was light and comforting. The whole premise was hygge and this book brought the concept to life for me. There was also the sizzling romance throughout the book and the twists and turns in relation to that kept my interest. I never quite knew what was going to happen next! 

What I also enjoyed was that the book had a lovely balance of description, storytelling and conversation. Nothing felt rushed and you felt immersed in their world. I got so caught up in the story that I would often stay up late at night just to ‘finish the next bit’.

The chapters were fairly lengthy, but you didn’t notice that. I was totally taken in by the writing style and what was happening with the characters so I wasn’t left wondering when the chapter would end. I looked forward to reading a bit more of the story after I had put it down. 

The characters were excellent. I couldn’t believe what some of the characters were up to! There was a good mixture of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ characters which was engaging. It was quite an emotional read at times, wondering what was going to happen next for the main character. Just as you got lulled into a comfortable storyline something came along to upset the apple cart!

I loved the closeness and blossoming relationships between the main characters. It was lovely to be on the journey of the discovery of Danish happiness with them. You could see the positive effects it was having and I loved seeing them grow and support one another when times were tough. They all had different things going on in their lives and needed the trip to Copenhagen to help sort things out!

Lastly the settings. What better setting than Copenhagen?! It was beautifully described and I want to go there now!! I enjoyed the way that some of the Danish happiness was brought to London and it really opened my eyes to the cultural difference.

Overall I loved everything about this book from the writing style and the characters to the beautiful settings. The description drew me in and the messages of love, happiness and support shone through. A comforting read that I highly recommend!
