The Friday 56 – The Attic Child by Lola Jaye

Welcome to Friday 56! Hosted by Freda’s Voice, you turn to page 56 or 56% in any book or reading device and pick a sentence that grabs you.

My book of the week is The Attic Child by Lola Jaye (click for link to Goodreads)

“I was now ready for the attic.

‘Go ahead. We haven’t touched up there yet, so I’m not sure what to expect,’ she said. ‘We’ve taken care of everything on the bequest list, so I suppose the rest belongs to you.'”

Lowra has just inherited her childhood home where obviously she wasn’t treated well (we have only had a small glimpse into that at this point). She is readying herself to set foot in the attic. The person accompanying her has no idea about Lowra’s past.

I was quite pleased that this was on page 56 as it was quite a moment in the book and mentions the attic to which the title of the book refers.

It is such a bold cover isn’t it. I love the orange and purple together. It is a wonderful story 🙂 Just on the last few pages now.

Thank you – you too! It was a lovely sunny day yesterday (apparently the hottest of the year so far) and today it is cloud and rain!
