💭THOUGHTS💭

I chose this book for Paris in July because I was looking for an excuse to read more Julie Caplin! I loved The Little Cafe in Copenhagen so had high hopes for this one. I wasn’t disappointed.

The writing was engaging and I found it hard to put down. It took me less time to read it than I thought it would, which I think is the mark of a gripping book!

The chapters were long, but you didn’t feel the length as you were too engrossed in what was going on. The story had a good pace to it and you weren’t really sure if there would be a happy ending or not. I hoped that there would be, but I couldn’t be too sure!

The characters were great. I loved Nina and her insecurities. It was lovely to see her gain confidence and discover what she was made to do. Whilst there was a lot of toing and froing between the characters it was just enough to keep you on your toes without overstepping and making you lose interest. I also loved reading about the friendship that developed between all the people on the cookery course. They all had their own stories and it was lovely that they all connected and made their own family of sorts.

Lastly the settings. I loved the descriptions of Paris and definitely want to go back there soon! I really felt as if I was there with the character. Whilst the story was mainly conversation, the detail that there was painted a beautiful picture. It also wasn’t just the settings that were beautifully described, but the food as well. I really wanted to try some of the food that was being produced!

Overall I loved this book. It had the perfect balance of conversation, action and description and is definitely a comfort read. I highly recommend!
