Friday Night Reading

Due to my son not going to sleep overly quickly I didn’t have a lot of reading time this evening and that which I did have I decided to focus on finishing Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa De La Cruz because we plan on going to the library tomorrow! I am pleased to report that I did manage to finish it and have also drafted a review. I have also managed to get a couple of chapters of Daisy and the Dazzling Dachshunds by Janey Clarke read. I had been hoping to finish reading it and drafting a review for that too, but I think I was being a bit over ambitious!

Overall I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe. There was nothing wow about it, but it was an acceptable retelling!

Even though I only read a couple of chapters of Daisy and the Dazzling Dachshunds that was enough for a ghost to appear and give a warning to the main character Daisy. I am intrigued to see where that goes!

I hope that you have had a good Friday. Tomorrow on the blog it’s Stacking the Shelves, All Over Instagram and what my weekend reading plans are!

  1. The Chronicles of History

Great progress! I have Pride and Prejudice on my kindle and a couple other Austen novels but haven’t read them yet. I tried Austen many years ago and absolutely hated her writing style but my taste have developed and changed over the last ten to fifteen years. So I got a few copies so I can review and evaluate if I have changed my mind about her. I am hopeful I will enjoy her books this time around. We shall see!

What’s funny is I love every Austen movie there is but when I tried reading her years ago. Well let’s say I didn’t read classics again for quite awhile! Just didn’t vibe but I have changed so much and think I am a much more equipped reader with different taste and wants out of reading than back when I first attempted her so definitely want to give her another chance. That way I can say I was fair and officially decided where I stand with her hahaha!

The films are great. I know people get a bit funny about them, but they are a great introduction to her in my opinion! They are great stories and deserve to be accessible to everyone.
