What else has been happening this week:

As you know we had a heatwave here in the UK on Monday and Tuesday so we stayed in. I set up a paddling pool in the kitchen with toys in for my son to play with which was enjoyable. By Wednesday it was a bit cooler so we went for a walk early (for us!) before the sun had a chance to really heat up! It was still fairly warm, but it was nice to get out and about again! Thursday was the first day of the summer holidays and we had a smart metre fitted. My son and I went to my mum’s to keep out of the way! My son had a great time with a water gun that looked huge against him! Friday we went to Wingham Wildlife Park which is always a great time out. Saturday we went to the library and bought some more fish for the tank. Today we are getting the house ready to celebrate Christmas in July tomorrow with the family (just a few decorations up so that we don’t spoil actual Christmas, baking some Christmas cupcakes and generally tidying up). We will be having a BBQ so fingers crossed it doesn’t suddenly rain tomorrow!

I hope that you have all had a great week!

Yes. I was a little worried about it. I was hotter in 2018 when I was heavily pregnant and the house didn’t go below 30 degrees C for a week!

It is a great book. And not only does it describe Paris, but the food as well. You need to read it after you have eaten and even then its tough!

I’ve been reading about the heat wave y’all are having! I live in Louisiana, in the southern US, so I’m kind of used to hot and humid. But I know that isn’t standard weather for the UK. I hope the weather breaks and y’all cool off soon!

      Thank you.

Honestly we aren’t used to it. Our roads melt and the railway tracks buckle. We don’t have air con in our houses. It doesn’t take much for us to fall apart!! Still it has now slightly cooled down (and I am still moaning about it. I am the same in Winter when I get too cold…)

This is the first proper one as I didn’t hear about it until last year over lockdown.

Me too. I like walking round the village, but if it gets too hot it isn’t worth it and we are then stuck in.

Thank you. He loved playing in the kitchen. I used to have the pool in the conservatory, but it was so hot in there. The kitchen is a darker and therefore slightly cooler place for him to splash around. It is also easier to clean up!

      You too 🙂

It has been hot hear as well low to mid 90s but moving down to high 80s this week. Those look like some fun books especially the Christmas Crime one. Have a good week Emily.

I love your photos of Wingham Wildlife Park! What a fun time. When my kids were little, they loved zoo’s and wildlife parks. I hope it continues to stay cooler over there.

Thank you. It is great! I still love them! I am hoping it will stay cooler. We are off to Wales on holiday soon and that is generally a colder part of the UK 😂

I guess reading Christmas books is a way of feeling cooler, lol.
Weird weather: Europe is burning, and the weather is fabulous in Chicagoland, where it’s usually very hot and super humid. Not that much this year. Even the nights are cool, which is really not usual at all here in Summer

It is nice to read about the snow! It is so strange. We aren’t used to it! I hope you are enjoying the weather! The UK is often unpredicable though. I remember summers that were just rain the whole time and others that were really warm. It’s just so random.
