Sunday Post

Happy Mother’s Day/Sunday! Welcome to my Sunday post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. It has been a busy week as always, but I have enjoyed it! This week saw my return to an actual library, the first time since the pandemic, so there was great excitement there! My 3 year old son absolutely loved returning to the library. The last time that he went he was 1. It was lovely to see the excitement on his face, long may it continue! Next week I shall be furiously trying to get through my Blog Tour book, my library book and one of my own books.

Hope you all have had a good week!

The Ultimate Recommendations Book Tag

I saw this tag on Kristin Kraves Books, created by Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx. It looked like fun so here are my answers!

A Book From One of Your Favourite Genres

Book Review – The Little Cafe in Copenhagen by Julie Caplin

Chick Lit/Romance. I loved this light, yet captivating read with beautiful settings.

A Short Book

Random Things Tour Blog Tour – Kill Me Goodbye by A K Reynolds (232 pages)

A Book-to-Screen Adaptation

Book Review – Bridget Jones Diary and Other Writings by Helen Fielding

I love Bridget Jones. I actually saw the film before reading the book. I have to admit that I prefer the film to the book, but the book is still great!

A Book Out of Your Comfort Zone

Book Review – Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

This was a very dark book. I am used to dark, but this one really got to me and at one point I even thought about leaving it!

A Book Series

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

This is the last series that I read and absolutely loved it. It made me realise how much I missed reading fantasy!

A Standalone

Book Review – The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

This was just a fantastic book and one that I highly recommend!

A Book You Don’t Talk About Enough

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

I wasn’t sure about reading this book. I felt that I was a bit too old (31) to be reading about school, however it gripped me from the beginning and I need to recommend it more!

Your “Staple” Book

The Harry Potter series. I have only read each book once (I know!), but they have stayed with me and I love Harry Potter themed things!

Book(s) That Got You Into Reading

Fawn in the Forest by Lucy Daniels

It is hard to pinpoint which books got me into reading, however when I was younger I particularly enjoyed animal books. This was a great set of books that caught my attention.

Book Tag – Disney Songs and Books!

I saw this book tag on Instagram (@smeets_x) and knew I had to do it! Who doesn’t like to have a bit of Disney sparkle in their lives?! I have made a few tweaks to it, but the essence is still the same. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to join in!

I love to laugh (Mary Poppins) – a book that made me laugh

Book Review – Dial A For Aunties by Jesse Sutanto

You’re welcome (Moana) – a book everyone should read

The Bookish Blog Tag

I saw this book tag on Rabs Bookish Planet and thought that it would be fun to join in. Here are my answers:

What are 1-3 of your favourite books of all time?

What are 1-3 of your favourite authors of all time?

Cassandra Clare, Dan Brown and Glenn Cooper

Who is your favourite female character of all time?

Bridget Jones. She is just brilliant and relatable!

Who is your favourite male character in a book?

Robert Langdon from Dan Brown’s series of books or Ron Weasley from Harry Potter. Two very different characters! One I admire their knowledge (Robert Langdon) and the other (Ron Weasley) just makes me laugh!

What is your favourite mythical world?

A Court of Thorns and Roses with all the different Courts – Velaris being my favourite!

What book has your favourite cover?

The Chrestomanci Series of books by Diana Wynne Jones . They are so colourful and beautifully drawn (click the titles for links to Goodreads)!

What is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

Bridget Jones Diary – it is the best! I love Bridget Jones with the Pride and Prejudice hints (really a film based on a book, which was inspired by another book!). Another great one (for me!) is Clueless, again another Austen modernisation, but this time based on Emma.

If you could make any book into a movie, what would it be?

There are so many! Every time I finish a good book I want there to be a film made about it! If I had to choose one it would be Glenn Cooper’s Will Piper series. Such a great set of books.

What was your favourite childhood book?

That is a tough one. There are so many that I have loved and enjoyed. One that comes to mind is Flambards by by K.M. Peyton. When I went round to my grandparent’s house I would read my mum’s childhood ‘pony’ books. My mum then got me this one. I have never read the rest of the series because I know that one of the main characters dies and I am not reading that. I want to leave it as it is!

Fantasy or sci-fi? (Or neither?)

Fantasy! No question. I read very little Sci Fi. I need to read more Sci Fi, but my head is always turned by other books in other genres!

Feel free to join in the fun! I would love to see your answers 🙂
