Sunday Post – should have been posted on 25 December, but due to Christmas I didn’t!

Welcome to my Sunday post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. I am back after my Christmas break! I have had a quiet blogging week prior to Christmas and a complete break from 24-29 December, instead spending time doing family things and generally chilling. I hope that you have had a good break.

Here are my last few posts!

Time Travel Thursday

It’s Time Travel Thursday! This is where I take a look back at what I was reading this time last year (or the year before or the year before that…) and compare it to what I am reading now.

This day in 2021 I was reading:

Book Description From Goodreads:

“Jo Finnegan is attacked while leaving work one evening by criminals threatening her more harm if she does not provide them with information she doesn’t have.

When she gets home, Jo finds her sister dead in her front room, and her wife missing. When the police arrive and arrest her, while she is still in shock from the events of the night, Jo realises she’s been framed for her sister’s murder. But that’s only the beginning of her nightmare.”

Book Review – Kill Me Goodbye by A K Reynolds

Fast Forward To Today:

Letters from Father Christmas by JRR Tolkien (click for link to Goodreads)

My current TBR shelf book, which I need to make more progress on this week!

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett (click for link to Goodreads)

This is my current Blog Tour book, review due on 13 January 2023.

Comparison:

Completely different books from Thriller to Christmas and Fantasy! The only thing that is similar is that the Thriller and Fantasy are Blog Tour books!

Goodreads Monday (add your links in the comments section for all to see!) – Jacob T. Marley by R. William Bennett

Welcome to the home of Goodreads Monday!

Goodreads Monday allows you to post about what books are on your “to read” lists, the progress you have made on your current books and reading challenge, and any other Goodreads news!

✨Don’t forget to add your link in the comments section so that we can all see each other’s posts!✨

The book that I have chosen this week is Jacob T. Marley by R. William Bennett (click for link to Goodreads).

Book Description From Goodreads:

“”Marley was dead to begin with . . .”
These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge?

Or had he?

Written with a voice reminiscent of Dickens, Jacob T. Marley is a masterfully crafted story sure to become a Christmas favorite.”

This was added to my Goodreads Want To Read List on 15 December 2020. I enjoy the story of A Christmas Carol and this sounds like an interesting take on one of the characters that we don’t really get to see much of.

Currently Reading (click for links to Goodreads):

Letters From Father Christmas by J R R Tolkien

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

Progress on my Goodreads Reading Challenge:

I have read 106/97 books!

What else has been happening this week:

SNOW! We only had it for one night, but as it has been so cold it hasn’t melted and has turned into ice. It is very dangerous out there. We aren’t prepared for this sort of weather! My son even had two days off school and even when we returned it wasn’t entirely safe.

This week was my son’s last week before the Christmas holidays so on Wednesday we got to see his nativity. He was the lamb (one of three). After school on Thursday we went to a Garden Centre that does amazing Christmas decorations. It took us a long time to get there and back due to the adverse weather conditions, but we had a nice chocolate whilst we were there and enjoyed the Christmas! This weekend we went shopping and today I (with my partner and son!) am meeting up with a friend.

I hope that you had a good week!

Sunday Post

Welcome to my Sunday post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. A very quiet week this week as I’ve tried to have a chilled week! We had a load of snow last week, which for this part of the UK is rare. It has been a nightmare slipping to and from school – the school was even closed for a couple of days. We just aren’t prepared for this sort of weather.

Anyway, here are this week’s posts:

Stacking The Shelves

Welcome to my Stacking The Shelves post hosted by Reading Reality. A very quiet week this week for me with one Blog Tour sign up. I have been slowing down as I haven’t done as much reading recently and don’t want to put too much pressure on myself! My son came home with a new library book from school.

Blog Tour Sign Up:

The Venice Secret by Anita Chapman

Book Description From Goodreads:

One hidden painting. Two women born centuries apart. A secret uncovered.

In 2019, Rachel is stuck in a rut when she discovers what appears to be a Canaletto painting in her grandmother’s loft along with a note addressed to Philippa in 1782. With help from Jake at the local art gallery, Rachel endeavours to find out if the painting is an original and uncovers a secret from the past.

In 1780, governess at Chipford Hall, Philippa is offered the role of mistress by Earl Rupert. She escapes to Venice as companion to bluestocking, Lady Cordelia who reveals a secret that changes both their lives. They do their best to keep the secret from Lady Cordelia’s social circle, but their nemesis is determined to reveal all and ruin them.”

I am on the Blog Tour for this book on 17 March 2023 so keep your eyes peeled for my review on here, Amazon, Goodreads, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

My son’s library book:

Everyone’s Friend Percy by Nick Butterworth (click for link to Goodreads)

Book Description From Goodreads:

“Everyone loves Percy! He is always ready to help his animal friends and above all have fun outdoors. In this brand new series each title is dedicated to one of Percy’s animal friends and this key title in the series is based on Percy himself! Each book includes stories, poems and interesting information making these books the ultimate guide to Percy and his animal friends.”

Book Blogger Hop – Which time of day do you prefer to read: morning, afternoon, or evening?

Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop! Hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer this week the prompt is:

Which time of day do you prefer to read: morning, afternoon, or evening? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I prefer to read of an evening. My partner is up with my son (before we swap over) so I have a few peaceful minutes. The only downside is that recently I have been really tired in the evening and have ended up falling asleep before much reading is done! I will occasionally read during the day, but I often don’t have a lot of time.

What about you?
