Top Ten Tuesday – On Thursday – Bookish Goals for 2023

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, this week it is Bookish Goals for 2023. This is a bit of a thinker! After some thought I have managed to come up with these:

  1. To read at least 50 books this year – I managed to read over 100 last year, but I have had so many colds that my reading has taken a hit and I want to give myself a bit of a break – crazy talk I know!
  2. Go on less Blog Tours. I love a Blog Tour, but it did end up being a bit much. I am going to do my best to stick to one Tour a month (after this month!!).
  3. I want to read more books on my shelf. I have so many books that I need to read and would like to focus on those this year.
  4. I want to read at least the same number of library books, purely because I don’t want to stop using the library. It is such a valuable resource.
  5. I want to continue reading various genres.
  6. I would like to try and read more translated books – this is probably where the Blog Tours will help – they have really helped vary my reading material!
  7. I would like to read more books based in different countries around the world – again Blog Tours have helped with this!
  8. To do another buddy read with my sister and cousin – this has loosely been organised for the Summer, but we shall see.

I am struggling to come up with any more so they are my top 8 bookish goals!

What are some of your goals for this year?

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for December

Goal for December:

All Things Christmas!

I love Christmas and Christmas books. I am therefore going to dedicate this whole month to Christmas reading – and a Blog Tour book! I will probably get distracted by other things too, but my main focus is on Christmas!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for November

Goals for November:

Gothic Fiction

Mystery

Thriller

I wanted to try and carry on with darker reading in the spirit of the season. I think of November as dark and cold. This is not necessarily the case at all – especially the last few years when it has actually been quite warm and sunny, however as a small child this is what I was taught and it will forever remain that way! The Gothic Fiction goal is a left over from last month and hopefully I will finish reading Fingersmith so that this goal is achieved. Mystery and Thriller I think of Autumn/Winter reads, however there are some that are set in sunnier climes – I will just avoid those for this month!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for September

Genre Goals for September:

Fantasy

Sci Fi

Mystery

As it is the start of the Autumn and darker nights, I thought that I would ease myself in with these genre goals. I haven’t read Fantasy or Sci Fi for a while so I thought that I would make these my goals this month. Mystery is good for any time of the year, but I prefer to read darker ones, especially in the Autumn, Winter months.

Roll on next month!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for August

*I am currently away on holiday so will reply to any comments on my return*

Genre Goals for August:

Mythology Retelling

Thriller

Romance

I want to read more Thriller’s again and have a lot on my TBR shelves that need to be read so that has been added to this month’s goal list. My overall goal this year was to read books on my TBR shelves. This has gone poorly so far, but hopefully this month’s goal will help!

I have seen Mythology Retellings around and as I have never read one, I thought that it would be a good goal to have for this month!

Lastly I have kept Romance on the list as that seems to be a good goal to have over Summer. They are light and will be something to break up the Thrillers!

Here’s to another great month of reading!

Let’s Talk Bookish – Reading Goals

Welcome to my Let’s Talk Bookish post! Created byΒ Rukky @ Eternity BooksΒ andΒ hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits, this meme includes a set prompt which we are then let lose on to discuss.

This week’s prompt is:

How are you doing on your reading goals so far this year?Β (Amber @Β Escape Life in the Pages)

Did you set any reading goals for yourself at the beginning of the year? If so, how are you doing with them?

I set myself a Goodreads Reading Challenge at the beginning of the year and each month I set myself Genre Goals.

I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself so my Goodreads Challenge is only a modest 97 which equates to just under 2 books a week. Maybe next year I will set it at 100, but only if I can manage this one!

Each month I set myself Genre Goals rather than number goals so that a) I am not worrying that I haven’t read enough during a month and b) it means that I get to try genres that I wouldn’t usually go for.

Any you’ve already met?

I have met my monthly Genre Goals each month so far. Sometimes I only read one book in that genre, but as long as I read one I count that as a win!

Are there any goals you want to add?

I try my best to read at least one library book a month, but I would like to set a proper goal for it next year. There is a library book challenge that I want to get involved with, so we shall see if it is still around next year!

Did you set any blogging goals? If so, how are you doing with those?

My main blogging goal is to do at least 3 posts a day, but sometimes I only do 2. I love taking part in all the memes, so it isn’t too hard to achieve this! My main goal though is to have fun and so far I am achieving that!

What about you?

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for June

Genre Goals for June:

Romance

Mystery

Thriller

I seem to read a lot of Romance these days, so I thought that I would add it back onto my list. This month I want to get back to Thrillers and Mysteries so I thought that if I added them onto my list that would be a good prompt!

Here’s to another great month of reading!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for May

It was quite difficult to find genre goals that I would want to complete next month as I am still enjoying chick lit/rom com. In the interest of diversity though I have chosen Historical Fiction, Children’s Fiction and Gothic Fiction. I have got more into Historical Fiction this year so I thought that I would add it to this month and see what gems I can find! Children’s Fiction is a fairly new one for me. I am giving it a go so that I can bridge the gap between what I read and what I read to my 3 year old son! Lastly, Gothic Fiction is on my list because I think there is a lot more to explore. I have only lightly touched on it in the past and I want to see what else is out there!

We shall see! Here’s to another great month of reading!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for April

It was quite hard to think of genres this month, but these are the ones I settled on!

I have quite enjoyed Rom Coms recently so this genre had to be at the top. Thriller and Mystery have made an appearance this month because they are my old go to genres. Sometimes Chick Lits and Rom Coms can get a bit samey, so it is nice to mix it up with Mysteries and Thrillers!

Here’s to another month of great reading!

New Month New Goals! Reading Goals for March

I have decided to do a mix of genres this month. I have started to get more into Historical Fiction so have chosen it for this month and hope that I am able to get a couple of books read under this genre. Fantasy hasn’t been on my list for a while, but I have a couple of books in mind that would fit this genre well. Lastly Murder Mystery is on there as it is one of my favourite genres!

I also have a few Blog Tours this month so keep an eye out for those reviews!
