Top Ten Tuesday – On Thursday – Bookish Goals for 2023

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, this week it is Bookish Goals for 2023. This is a bit of a thinker! After some thought I have managed to come up with these:

  1. To read at least 50 books this year – I managed to read over 100 last year, but I have had so many colds that my reading has taken a hit and I want to give myself a bit of a break – crazy talk I know!
  2. Go on less Blog Tours. I love a Blog Tour, but it did end up being a bit much. I am going to do my best to stick to one Tour a month (after this month!!).
  3. I want to read more books on my shelf. I have so many books that I need to read and would like to focus on those this year.
  4. I want to read at least the same number of library books, purely because I don’t want to stop using the library. It is such a valuable resource.
  5. I want to continue reading various genres.
  6. I would like to try and read more translated books – this is probably where the Blog Tours will help – they have really helped vary my reading material!
  7. I would like to read more books based in different countries around the world – again Blog Tours have helped with this!
  8. To do another buddy read with my sister and cousin – this has loosely been organised for the Summer, but we shall see.

I am struggling to come up with any more so they are my top 8 bookish goals!

What are some of your goals for this year?

I would also like to read from more genres, more countries, and translated books. I hope I can do that and keep up with my other goals. Or read more books?

Thank you. I managed to space them out quite well at first, but then all of a sudden it did get a bit much. And now of course we have all the strikes!

      You too 🙂

Balancing books on your shelf with library checkouts = fantastic reading math. The library is definitely an important resource, and if you think about it, they’re technically both options on which you’ve already spent money to enjoy…

Lots of us have similar goals! I almost exclusively use my library which means I don’t read what’s on my shelf and that was also a goal for me – read my damn shelf!!! My weakness isn’t Tours, it’s ARCs so my goal is less ARCs, more reading from my extensive TBR list. Hope you can ban colds from your house for a while so you can recover. 🙂 Have a terrific week.

We do! It was lovely to see. The library is such a lovely outing though – thats what gets me!

Honestly my son has just this week caught another one. Streaming nose. I just want to isolate him from the other children!!!

I think those 8 goals will keep you busy! I really should make a point of reading more translated work at some point. I think 50 is a good solid goal. I set my Goodreads challenge at 12 again this year. I like to get it out of the way early in the year. LOL Seriously though, I don’t like to pressure myself with a number goal–but is sure is worth celebrating when we do manage to read more than we expected, isn’t it? 🙂 Good luck with your reading goals this year!

      Thank you.

Translated work is something I never even considered until last year. Maybe I should have set myself 12! I know what you mean about the pressure, but it is great to achieve the goal! I have cut down on Blog Tours to give myself time to read my books, but all I have been doing is reading less – I have just been falling asleep of an evening though instead of reading!!!

      Same to you 🙂
