Friday Musings – Inspired by Top 10 Tuesday – Books That Feature Travel

Welcome to my Friday Musings Post! This is where every week I will scour the Blogosphere and find past meme questions and incorporate them into a current post (linking back to the blog who set the meme).

This week I have chosen:

Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

On 4 June 2013 the prompt was Books that Feature Travel. At the end of every month I like to see where I have “travelled to” in my books so I thought that this was a great prompt to do. Here is a list of 5 books that feature character’s travels:

Book Review – Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins – MEROE ISLAND

Random Things Tours – Book Review – Retreat to the Spanish Sun by Jo Thomas – SPAIN

Library Book Review – You Had Me At Halloumi by Ginger Jones – CYPRUS

Random Things Tours – Book Review – It Only Takes A Minute by Sasha Lane – PORTUGAL

Random Things Tours – Book Review – Twelve Days In May by Niamh Hargan – CANNES

What books have you read where the character’s travel?

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – click here for my review

Out of all of these my favourite is the USA version.

The Friday 56

Welcome to my first Friday 56! Hosted by Freda’s Voice, you turn to page 56 or 56% in any book or reading device and pick a sentence that grabs you.

Here is mine:

“His eye was drawn to a photo of four boys jumping into a lake, a look of complete and utter delight in the moment on their faces.”

The Mirror Game by Guy Gardner (click here for link to Goodreads)

I thought that it was a lovely sentence. The main character had just gone into a room of a patient (who was there after some mysterious event happened to him in the War).

I am on the Blog Tour for this book on 11 February 2022 so keep your eyes peeled for my review on here, Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

Welcome to my Friday Musings Post! This is where every week I will scour the Blogosphere and find past meme questions and incorporate them into a current post (linking back to the blog who set the meme).

This week I have chosen:

Tell Me Something Tuesday, hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings.

On 17 March 2020 the prompt was: Lucky finds: what book(s) do you consider a lucky find?

Here are a couple of books from last year that I consider lucky finds. They are both from the library and I just happened upon them (click title for my review:

Book Review – Yes, No, Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed

I wanted to find a book that began with “y” as I want to be able to spell my name in books. I was struggling for quite a while until this one came up. I am so glad that it did! It was a lovely light chick lit and I quite happily gave it a 5 star rating!

Book Review – Christmas at the Comfort Food Cafe by Debbie Johnson

I love reading Christmas themed books in the run up to Christmas and this one came up on a library book search. I have since learned that this author has done a number of different books and I have already read another of her Christmas books because I enjoyed this one so much!

What have been your recent lucky finds?

Book Blogger Hop

Welcome to my first Book Blogger Hop post of 2022! Hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer this week the prompt is:

Do you have a genre you haven’t read before but would like to? (submitted by Sam @ Another Book On the Shelf)

I found this quite hard to answer as I think that I have tried most genres that I think that I would enjoy. I decided though to settle on Gothic Fiction. I only heard about it earlier this year and from what I understand about the genre, I think that this is something that I would enjoy and so need to explore it more this year (as well as trying to make a dent in my TBR shelves!)!

What genre would you like to read?

The book that I am currently reading is:

The Christmas Wish List by Heidi Swain

First Line:

“As my fingers itched to click open the calender on the computer for what would have been the fiftieth time in the last five minutes, I began to question my resolve about not taking superstitions seriously.”

An interesting first line I felt for a Christmas book! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book!
